Okay, so now what?

(continued from 'where do we start?').... so now what? after drawing some icons with kerala as a theme, i had this:

As I posted this photo for fun on facebook there was a pretty good positive response. Now something clicked..... if some random person had enquired about making T-shirts with my designs, why not I give it a go? I mean, how hard can it be?

Now, being from a family where nobody's run a business, I can safely say I have no hereditary experience. However, I've learnt a thing or two while I was at college, and looking at what I saw, I thought, hey, this could be a thing. Allow me to elaborate:

Travelling around Kerala, I've noticed a thing.... there are many beautiful places to see, and many cultural things to experience, but nothing nice to keep as a souvenir. Sure, nowadays there are a few kerala magnets and a few kathakali masks, but the kathakali mask facial expressions look like they had one too many drinks, or looks like maniacal clowns that visit your nightmares. The magnets are not a big deal when it comes to quality either. Even the houseboats and snakeboat handicrafts found in shops.... honestly, they're crap. It's disappointing frankly. It shows people here lack a passion for their culture.

I've seen the strength of culture in Calcutta when I lived there. Sure the city may be absolutely insane and horrendously dirty, but the people there are proud of their cultural history, and love to show it...take a look at these beautiful works by tribals from the eastern indian states
